additions: 2002 and the secret

good afternoon gremmies. stevie wonder’s “Living for the City” is coming out of my speakers in a way that can only be described as “blasting”. like dynamite. or – some might say – a gremmie outta control. we’ve added the 2002 year to the site for your approval.

some of you have emailed goof and gremmie asking, “what happens when all of the music is uploaded to the basement and the dot net? where do you go from there?” it’s a fair question and an inevitability. in due time, we’ll have the full library available and have nothing left to upload beyond new Pearl Jam material. from our perspective however, this is the launch point to add original value to the site. at the moment, in the entirety of gremmie.net, we’ve primarily acted as librarians to expansive volumes of Pearl Jam material (gremmie’s basement and gremmie.net’s b-sides) while also providing gremmies with our discretionary choices of the “best of” versions of live songs (gremmie.net’s signature live series). once there’s no room left to dig, goof and gremmie will finally be able to focus on adding bells, whistles, and most importantly original material you can’t find anywhere else. for example we plan to add a robust media player that will allow gremmies to play gremmie.net tunes in a reliable and seamless fashion. this will act as a revised version of the now defunct “gremmie radio”. also, we plan to write more op-ed articles regarding Pearl Jam (like this) vis-a-vis the excellent work of TwoFeetThick.

we’ll let you folks in on a little secret: the music you find on gremmie.net is a commodity and we do not have the market cornered. as if to say, we don’t have a monopoly on Pearl Jam’s music across the interwebs. goof and gremmie didn’t invent the concept of aggregating Pearl Jam’s catalog into one site. people have done it before, time and time again. we noticed early on that these  site didn’t recognize that the music was just a commodity. there’s a larger discussion here as to why these sites didn’t recognize this which follows the technological arc of the early internet, the availability of media in an easily digestible form, and the advent of blogs. but to boil it down – Pearl Jam’s catalog of music is a commodity; a widely available, inexpensive commodity.

while people love and adore that commodity (goof and gremmie included), there’s no magic in bringing it all together. this is why sites like TwoFeetThick and the now retired Five Horizons are the most highly regarded Pearl Jam sites on the internet. they focus not only on the music but on the whirling dervish surrounding the music. any gremmie can upload material for people to download, but the real sweet, hard candy is in creating original content around the music us gremmies have such a fondness for.

up next: 2006.

additions: 2005

good morning gremmies. seems like we’re cooking with gasoline. goof and gremmie had expected the uploading process to take substantially longer than it has. as such, we’re on target to beat the year end target date to have the entire catalogue uploaded for your perusal. on this day, we’ve uploaded the entirety of Pearl Jam’s 2005 touring year. this includes the various  US dates, Canada, and South America. enjoy.

additions: big update

good morning gremmies. we have a rather large update for you today. we have added the following years to the shows sections. each includes ALL of the shows from the given year. check out the navigation bar at the top of the page. we’ve added the following years: 2007, 2004, 2001, 1999, 1997, and 1990. big thanks to Jordan NacNiven.

the number of performances during these years are relatively light when compared to the tours of – for example – 2000 or 2006. but goof and gremmie think it’s a good start.

we’ve also added various improvs in a single ZIP file in the patchwork section. lastly, we’ve added video for the Austin City Limits show from 2009. enjoy. more to come folks. please stay tuned.

additions: hallucinogenic recipe

it’s been a frenetic few weeks here at gremmie.net. with the basement now running on all cylinders, goof and i have been busy putting out small fires while simultaneously adding kindle to the pile. this morning we’ve added the box set Hallucinogenic Recipe. spanning 5 discs, the set reads like an early history of Pearl Jam with demos from Mother Love Bone, Green River, and the Gossman Project. on a personal note, this box set was my holy grail as a teenager. my local record store displayed it behind the counter on the top shelf; it stood 4 feet higher than my sight-line. even though i couldn’t afford the $150 price tag, like clockwork i always checked to see if it was still available each time i walked in. my primitive, pubescent brain took comfort in knowing that even if i couldn’t afford it, no one else could either. kids, kids.

you can find it in the patchwork section, under box sets. or you can click here. thanks again JR.

additions: bridges box set

good morning gremmies. big update today with more on the way. gremmie “JR” has supplied the basement with a stellar copy of the Bridges Box Set. released in the mid 1990’s, this 4 disc set includes various live cuts from performances between 1991 and 1995. what makes the set unique is that it also has – interspersed between music – interviews with the band at various points during their careers (the actual tracklisting is on the page). the interviews range from insightful to downright hilarious.

we’ve placed the set in the patchwork section of the basement. it can be found here. coming soon: hallucinogenic recipe.

additions: old school bootlegs

good afternoon gremmies. we’ve added the following bootlegs to the basement today:

-new york ’94
-san diego ’95
-the jam machine

in addition, we’ve added descriptions and setlists for all bootlegs available on the basement. thanks for the input everyone.

we have also been in contact with the tenclub and have agreed that for the time being we will take down the Pearl Jam produced bootlegs from 2008, 2009, and 2010 since they’re still being offered on pearljam.com. these shows will be taken offline within 24 hours of this posting while we work on the site. thanks.
